2019 - Retrospective - Victoria Art Gallery, Bath
2019 James Tower centenary - Victoria Art Gallery
From 21 September - 24 November 2019 Victoria Art Gallery in Bath will host a major retrospective of James Tower’s work.
The exhibition will consist of over 60 works by Tower dating from the 1930s to the 1980s, many of which have never been on public display. It will feature large-scale ceramics, sculptures in bronze and resin, as well as smaller ceramics, paintings and works on paper.
Marking the centenary of the artist’s birth year, this exhibition is a rare and exciting opportunity to enjoy the work of one of Britain’s most important 20th-century studio potters.
More information may be found on the Victoria Art Gallery’s website, here.
To coincide with the centenary and this special exhibition, the German art publishers Arnoldsche are publishing a book, JAMES TOWER: Ceramics, Sculptures and Drawings. This impressive monograph is edited by Timothy Wilcox and will be available to purchase from Erskine, Hall & Coe and the Victoria Art Gallery.
